DESCRIPTION:\nAs practitioners in the estate planning realm, we have the privilege of meeting and working with clients through the highs and lows of their lives.  Many times, our clients come to us for the first time when they are in the throes of a major turning point – whether that be the death of a loved one, marriage, divorce, retirement, or a career change to name a few.  These life transitions inevitably bring about complex emotional reactions and transformations within our clients.  While they come to us for our technical expertise, we know instinctively that the emotional factors at play affect our client’s ability to implement the changes and recommendations they may need to help navigate these new challenges.  In this presentation, we will explore research and psychology around how people process major life transitions and how that impacts our work with them.  We will look at how people react to change (the good, the bad, the planned, and the unplanned), how this shows up in our meetings and interactions, and how we can use this understanding to help guide our clients effectively and compassionately.  We will also take time to talk with our fellow practitioners at our table to discuss our own experiences and ideas on how to support clients through transitions.  So, consider shaking up your seating arrangement and pairing with professionals from different disciplines and in varying stages of their careers.  There is so much that we can learn from each other!  We are looking forward to seeing you in February!       \n
